Welcome to my homepage. I am Don Storey and I live and work in Glastonbury, where I have my workshop, Avalon HeartWood.
Originally from Hamilton, Scotland, I trained as a Furniture Maker at City of Bristol College. I am greatly inspired by the Arts and Crafts Style of my native country and also draw influence from Scandinavian and Japanese design.
My work ranges from larger bespoke pieces such as cabinets and tables through to smaller items for the home, such as clocks and chopping boards.
I make bespoke pieces of furniture, using mainly native hardwoods sourced in Somerset and the surrounding area. All items are built using traditional woodworking techniques such as Mortice and Tenon & Dovetail joints, to ensure structurally sound construction. Wherever possible I like to use hand tools to create my pieces.
Please check out my Gallery to see examples of my work, some of which are currently for sale. If you would like to discuss my work or find out more about commissioning a bespoke item, please e-mail me to discuss further.
